thank you for joining us. and without further ado, here is tucker barnes to tell us more about what we can expect today. >> good morning. a real mess out there. a lot of rain falling across the area. we have this tornado warning set to expire in just a couple of minutes. a real mess with embedded thunderstorms, rainfall rates approaching two inches an hour in some spots. we've had reports of lots of gusty winds. we have a tornado warning, a wind advisory along the bay and a flash flood watch. let's get to it. hd radar, did want to show you the area we've been most currented with in the past half hour or so and that is east of the beltway, east of prince george's county along the bay there. see the intense yellows and reds. there is thunderstorm activity and doppler radar is indicating the possibility some of tornadoes. a tornado warning was issued about a half hour ago. it is in effect for a few more minutes. let's close in on that region. you can see the widespread rain across the region. this is pushing up t

this will set us up for what will be a fantastic weekend. trying to find some more superlatives for it. >>> let's do some on-time traffic and julie wright. i got caught up in that beltway mess. >> oh, did you? >> they send you down connecticut. >> that's right. they do. you are absolutely right. outer loop, the traffic is being diverted off the beltway at connecticut. all of this is due in part to an accident that occurred about 10:00 last night. it involved a couple of vehicles and a tractor-trailer. when i came through about 0 minutes ago, all of the lanes are open on the inner loop. on the outer loop, they were spreading out the sand, the an osh sent if you will. the outer loop of the beltway blocked off at connecticut avenue. you take connecticut avenue, ride that ramp, come southbound to jones bridge. make a right turn on jones bridge road and can you travel northbound on 355. that will take you back up to the beltway. outer loop of the beltway, traffic being diverted off here at connecticut avenue. already starting to see some delays f
